Get smarter by working out!
We all know that exercising our bodies increases strength, stimulates muscle growth and improves our cardiovascular fitness, but how does this effect our minds?
A lot of new research has shown that while we work out, we not only increase blood supply to our muscles but also to our brain. This means an increase in oxygen and energy supply to our brain, which will better our performance and ability to learn.
So combining a physical task with an learning exercise help us develop a lot more connections between the neurons in the brain. Neurons are cells in our brains that processes and transmits information through electrical and chemical signals to other nerve cells, muscles or gland cells.
In other words, being physically fit helps us learn faster and maintain our cognitive abilities even as we age.
